Call for Artists!
As a vital, active participant in the arts community, Walkerville Artists Collective offers exciting opportunities to local emerging and established artists and artisans.
WAC Community Artists
Artists and artisans living in Windsor/Essex County who are interested in joining our collective are invited to apply to become a WAC Community Artist. As a Community Artist you will have your own designated space in our gallery on Ottawa Street in Walkerville to display and sell your artwork. Gallery space is rented by the linear foot, with a percentage commission on sales, and items displayed in the gallery are also listed and available for sale on our online storefront for no additional charge. We have experienced artists on hand to guide you in presenting your artwork in a professional manner, both in the gallery and online.
Community Artists also enjoy the same benefits as WAC Community Members, including rental of studio and workshop space at a reduced hourly rate and preferred pricing on purchases of select artwork.
Your application to join the collective as a WAC Community Artist will be considered by our Membership Committee and juried by our current Member Artists. If you are interested in applying, please complete and submit our online form, including your artist bio and five images of your artwork representative of the pieces you expect to have on display in the gallery.
WAC Member Artists
Community Artists who are interested in pursuing a more active and involved role in the collective may work with our Membership Committee in a step-by-step process toward consideration as a WAC Member Artist.
As a fully artist-run collective, Member Artists are responsible for every aspect of the day-to-day operations, maintenance, and promotion of the gallery, and our success depends on each individual committing their time and talents to this venture. Whatever your own skills and interests may be - posting on social media, cleaning floors, bookkeeping, planning special events, doing repairs, writing grant proposals, etc. - there is a place for you to jump in, get involved, and be an integral part of our team.
Member Artist involvement includes the following specific requirements:
-
volunteer at least eight hours per month during regular gallery hours to help run the gallery
-
attend once-monthly Members meetings
-
join and actively participate in at least one committee
-
participate in special events throughout the year
-
commit to a minimum of one full year with the collective, to get a good idea of what works best to sell your artwork
In exchange for their active involvement in the collective, Member Artists enjoy a variety of benefits including a reduced rate for display space rental, reduced commission percentage, and use of our classroom and studio space at no additional cost.
Ready to join and become a part of a vibrant artistic community? Don't wait! We look forward to welcoming new members to the collective and having fresh artwork at the gallery for everyone to enjoy.
